The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of ecological environment said today that the 15th meeting of the conference of the parties to the Convention on biological diversity (CBD COP15) will be held in Kunming, China, from October 11 to 15, 2021 and in the first half of 2022 in two stages, as decided by the Bureau of the 14th session of the conference of the parties to the Convention on biological diversity on July 14 and approved by the Chinese government. 

The first phase of the meeting will be held from October 11 to 15, 2021. Overseas personnel attends the meeting online and relevant domestic personnel attends the meeting on site. 

The main contents include the opening ceremony, leaders' speeches, high-level meetings, general agenda, the release of "Kunming declaration" and other documents, as well as supporting activities and exhibitions such as the ecological civilization forum. The second phase will be held offline in the first half of 2022 to facilitate extensive and in-depth consultations and discussions among all parties and promote the achievement of an ambitious and practical post-2020 global biodiversity framework with broad consensus. 

China will continue to work with all parties and the Convention Secretariat to overcome the adverse impact of the global epidemic on the conference, earnestly fulfill the obligations of the host country, solidly promote the preparations for the conference, and make efforts and contributions to the holding of a landmark conference.
