On July 5-6, 2021, volunteers from CBCGDF Wetland Protected Area in Suihua dispatched two vehicles to inspect the Tongken River in Wangkui County. The Tongken River originates from the Xiao xingan Mountains and flows from east to west to the south through Bei'an, Hailun, Baiquan, Mingshui, Qinggang, and Wangkui. A variety of fish such as carp, crucian, silver carp, and loach live in Tongken River.

From May 16 to July 31 is the closed fishing season released by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Heilongjiang Province. Although during the closed fishing season, a large number of illegal fishing nets were found in the Tongken River, including: a long dragon-like ground cage net that winds tens of meters, a catfish net with a thick diameter and a short length, and a catfish net. As long as fish or birds enter the fishing net, it is difficult for them to escape. Volunteers will cooperate with local authorities in response to solve this situation. If someone claims it, on-site publicity and education will be conducted. The fishing gear will be returned after all the catches back into river. If fishing tools are unclaimed, the fishing gear shall be cut into pieces and transported away.

During the patrol, the volunteers bear the sunlight in summer and are not afraid of fatigue. Although the voluntary work continues several hours each time, no one left halfway. The volunteer said: "No matter the weather is good or not, we will work together as long as we have time. Our country has issued good policies for the construction of ecological civilization. It is okay for us to be tired because we have the common belief in protecting wild animals and the environment."

After patrolling Wangkui County, the volunteers went to Qinggang County for inspection. After two days, the volunteers were exhausted, but they achieved great results: a total of more than 400 ground cage nets, catfish nets, daxuan nets, and gown nets were confiscated and destroyed, and a total of 100 kilograms of fish were released. With the efforted made by authorities and volunteers, I believe that the number of illegal fishing activities will reduce year by year!
