On June 8, Chen Yungang, deputy county magistrate of Leye County, led a team of staff and relevant leaders to work on site at Zhesha Village, Zhuanli Village, Xinhua Town, Leye County, to solve the "sequela" problem left by the construction of lebai expressway.

Earlier this year, the villagers of Zhesha Village told the Research Department of CBCGDF that since 2017, because of the construction of the lebai expressway.

It turned out that as early as the beginning of this year, Shatun, who were converted to Li village, reported to the green society research office that since 2017, the project management department of the 8th bid section of lebai expressway of Road and Bridge International Co., Ltd has been stationed in Zhesha Village, destructing five-century-old trees, roads, canals and other agricultural facilities in the village. These destructions had great negative impacts on the agriculture and daily life in the village, such as the shortage of water source and the waste of land.

Since November 2019, villagers have made claims against the construction company through both the county government and court. In this year, five destroyed century-old trees have been properly compensated with the help of the Research Department of CBCGDF.

On June 8, Chen Yungang leading a team of workers climbed the hillside and passed through the gully, walking all the way to the original water source of irrigated farmland in the village. He put forward guiding rectification suggestions for repairing the farmland canal and required the construction company to repair and restore the irrigation canal, road, and various agricultural production facilities in Zhesha Village. Before leaving, Chen Yungang stressed again and asked the workers to pay close attention to the following work and conduct practically and thoroughly.

A villager of Zhesha said: "We fully feel that ‘doing things for the people’ is not a simple slogan, but walk in their shoes, respond to their needs, and solve their difficulties.” By witnessing leaders’ actions, villagers were contented, while expressed their gratitude for the concern and assistance of the Research Department of CBCGDF.
