As an accredited organization to UN Environment Programme (UNEP), CBCGDF has recently received an invitation from UNEP to join the Nairobi Group of Friends to Combat Marine Litter and Plastic Pollution (NGoF). It will be officially launched by the end of June.

Every year, an estimate between 4.8 and 12.7 million tons of plastics are being dumped at sea. Marine plastic pollution is becoming more and more severe. The NGoF is established to address this issue and support ambitious action at the resumed session of the Fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) from 28 February to 2 March 2022 against marine litter and plastic pollution.

As an environmental protection organization, CBCGDF has been actively taking actions to enhance the awareness of plastic pollution such as calling for supermarket to reduce the use of disposable plastic bags, promoting green meetings and publishing the first green meeting standard (GMI) in China and so on.

CBCGDF is very honored to be invited to join the NGoF and looks forward to discussing marine pollution with the Member States and stakeholders as well as making joint contributions to marine ecological protection.
