The Revised List of Wildlife Under Key State Protection officially released

On February 5, “The Revised List of Wildlife Under Key State Protection” (hereinafter referred to as the List) was released to the public by Xinhua Net and on the websites of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. It is said that all the species in the original list will be kept by the new list. Among them, 65 species of wild animals have been upgraded from Grade II to Grade I, such as jackals and Yangtze finless porpoises, while Assamese Macaque, Capra sibirica and pythons have been downgraded from Grade I to Grade II.

Compared with the suggestions of revisions of “The List of Wildlife Under Key State Protection (draft)", which was put forward after the Research Department of the CBCGDF contacted 152 protected areas, relevant experts and volunteers on July 20, 2020, the revised List specifically upgraded animals including Cuon alpinus and Luscinia ruficeps from the National Grade II to Level I, while other animals, such as Selenarctos Thibetanus, Ailurus fulgens, Branta ruficollis, Bubo Scandiaca, Gekko Gecko, Canis lupus L and so on, still remained in Grade II.
