Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), once pointed out that the development of the circular economy is an important strategy for the construction of ecological civilization and the development of national economy and society. In the era of ecological civilization, people should emphasize "respecting nature, conforming to nature, protecting nature" and should attach the importance to resource-saving and maximizing its effectiveness, which is respect for nature. In order to further promote the landing of outstanding cases of circular economy in China, on the morning of August 8th, the CBCGDF invited Mr. John Ashlin, the Netherlands Circle Economy’s (CE) Chinese representative to come to visit and discuss the circular finance, recycling of used clothes, Global Green Design Conference, Green Great (refers to the international platform of College Students Environmentalists Community launched by the CBCGDF), Good Food Summit, “waste into treasure” and other in-depth exchanges with Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, as well as laid the foundation for future cooperation.

Mr. John Ashlin brought many creative ideas, especially the “Summer Social 2019” project. Through the “art” method, this project helps school students to use the innovative design of “express packaging garbage” to build up the consciousness of recycling economy to reduce garbage from an early age. Mr. John Ashlin hopes to promote, educate and motivate primary and secondary school students to understand circular economy and sustainable development through such activities. Mr. John Ashlin said that the project also needed the resources and participation of the CBCGDF so that the project could achieve real long-term sustainability.

Secretary-General Zhou Jinfeng emphasized that the ideas and projects advocated by Mr. John Ashlin and his colleagues are highly in line with the ideas and works advocated by the CBCGDF. The two sides can cooperate in many areas, such as Good Food Initiative promoted by the CBCGDF’s Good Food Fund, the annual competition of environmental protection knowledge in universities, the green design concept promoted by Green Great, eco-civilized urban planning, the concept of sustainable fashion with zero fur, so as to establish a solid partnership.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng invited Mr. John Ashlin to participate in various activities organized by the CBCGDF in August and October this year, such as the youth speech conference at Peking University, the Seminar on Zero-Waste Circular Economy, and the 3rd Good Food Summit in Suzhou. He also said that today the two sides had taken the first step and the cooperation had made a great start. The purpose of the exchanges between the two sides in promoting the framework of green sustainable development is to explore the direction of cooperation between the two sides in this field.
