On July 28, 2019, the “Call of the Forest: Disposable Chopsticks, stop” themed public welfare event organized by the Clean and Fresh World Forum, guided by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) was held successfully in Beijing. Li Yunkun, the former deputy director of the Department of Afforestation and Greening of the Ministry of Forestry attended the event. Experts and scholars from solid waste treatment, garden science, food science and technology, and related business leaders and environmental volunteers attended the event. CBCGDF representative attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

 

During the event, Li Yunkun delivered a keynote speech titled “Actions to Protect Forests and Restrict the Use of Disposable Chopsticks”. From the origin of disposable chopsticks, to the discussion of the waste of forest resources by disposable chopsticks, and then processing the pollution caused by the disposable chopsticks, together with the guests, analyzed the impacts and harms of disposable chopsticks on the natural environment, ecological balance, human health and sustainable development, and called on everyone to start from themselves to refuse using disposable chopsticks to protect the forest and the environment.

 

The CBCGDF representative delivered a keynote speech entitled "Walk Your Chopsticks, Self-Rejection of Disposable Tableware", which introduced CBCGDF's "Walk Your Chopsticks" project, it's launching background, development history, and future work priorities, made the audience have a more intuitive understanding of CBCGDF's work and efforts. At the same time, everyone is also called to use the disposable utensils and refuse to use disposable chopsticks. She stressed: We are responsible citizens in the era of ecological civilization, and we have the right to exercise green consumption rights.

 

Yao Jun, the former curator of the China Bee Museum, and Zhao Shiwei, the chief engineer of the Beijing Academy of Landscape Science, also talked about the issue of environmental protection from the perspective of animals and gardens. Everyone spoke freely during the event and expressed their views on restricting the use of disposable chopsticks and plastics, regarding environmental protection and ecological governance. At the end of the event, all the participants signed the banner and expressed their determination to contribute to the action of limiting disposable chopsticks and plastics. The event aims to further deepen the connotation of this event by exploring the harm caused by disposable chopsticks, thereby contributing to the eternal theme of environmental protection.
