Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(hereinafter referred to as the "CBCGDF"), received an invitation from Dr. R. Pachauri, former chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is an Indian expert who received the 2017 Nobel peace prize on behalf of IPCC along with the former US Vice President Al Gore.

In an email, Dr. Rk Pachauri invited Dr. Zhou to participate in the Second World Sustainable Development (WSDF) to be held in Mexico City in October 2019

The World Sustainable Development Forum (WSDF) is a not- for profit organization incorporated separately in Europe, Norway and the U.S. WSDF is a global initiative to promote and mobilize global action for effective implementation of both the Paris agreement on climate change and the SDGs.

The Second WSDF would involve leaders from the government at all levels, leaders of business and industry, as well as those involved in academia and civil society. The level of ambition that every country has to achieve for meeting the 1.5℃ target should be transformative, involving all stakeholders and ensuring a comprehensive and integrated approach, so that there is an established coherence in policies and actions globally. In particular, the Second WSDF would involve extensively the participation of youth, since they must be at the vanguard of action in taking the lead on climate action worldwide.

The Second WSDF would also deal with the SDG related to Life Below Water (SDG 14) because not only is climate change leading to acidification of oceans, but also substantial warming with major threats to marine ecosystems and marine life. In addition, human society is now generating alarming quantities of waste, including plastics which are ultimately dumped in the oceans.

CBCGDF will spare no effort to promote the work in response to climate change and to achieve SDGs, in this year's WSDF, CBCGDF will share best practices from China to exchange practical measures and let the world hear the good stories from China.
