China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is an official promotion partner of WWF on Earth Hour in 2019. It is committed to encouraging and guiding the public to take action to restore biodiversity and the nighttime ecosystem while conserving biodiversity. The Starry Sky Committee of CBCGDF, a specialized agency that promotes nighttime environmental protection, advocates the development of standards-compliant China Conservation Areas for Dark and Starry Sky by regulating light pollution and promoting the ecological environment with dark night protection and scientific popularization. The concept and activities of protection actively mobilize the power of society to jointly focus on the development of the nighttime ecological environment and the protection of biodiversity.

To this end, initiated by CBCGDF, Xinhuanet Science Channel, BAIC BJEV and other institutions cooperated and jointly launched the 2019 "Earth Hour" Special Event – Connect to Nature, Focusing on Biodiversity and Nighttime Ecological Environment.

The event will be conducted through (including but not limited to) the following:

1.    Guide the community to pay attention to biodiversity and nighttime ecological environment through articles promoting biodiversity conservation and environmental protection knowledge and action and call on the public to respond to the 2019 Earth Hour theme Connect to Earth and promote participation in practice 60 + Sustainable production and lifestyle with energy saving and environmental protection. At the same time, the content of the promotion will be shared on the official websites of each institution, as well as on IDA, IUCN, IAU, xinhuanet.com, cctv.com, Science and Technology Daily, zhishifenzi.com, gongyishibao.com, news.qq.com, totiao.com, China Youth Daily, Wechat and Weibo and other news media and social media to spread the message widely.

2. Through cooperation with astronomical and environmental protection associations in Chinese universities, middle schools and primary schools, cities will be linked together to adopt sustainable development, energy conservation and environmental protection in various forms of video sharing, popular science production and display. As well as via advocacy for light pollution and nighttime ecological protection, young people across the country are called upon to respond to the Earth Hour philosophy.

The event is also inviting caring and public welfare organizations and institutions, as well as environmental volunteers who are concerned about biodiversity conservation to pay attention to the “Earth Hour”.

The event will send out the same voice: publicize and advocate sustainable, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly production and lifestyle beyond one hour, scientifically and rationally use lighting, tackle the global climate change, and promote harmony with people who practice Connect to Earth, a leading concept leads the whole society to promote the contribution of mankind to a planet full of vibrant biodiversity.
