Today coincides with the opening of the United Nations Framework of Convention on Climate Change in Poland, the CBCGDF “Primary School Climate Change Conference” is also launched simultaneously. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, walked into the Zhongke Qiyuan Primary School in Beijing with the Green Youth Working Group and held a lively and interesting climate change open class with the students about the climate change and its subsequent influences. The open class attracted the participation of CCTV news channel reporters for recording.

At the beginning of the course, the children actively interacted with Dr. Zhou. Surprisingly, they already have an in-depth understanding of the climate change. When it comes to how to reduce the environmental cost, some students take the initiative to raise their hands and say that they can use toys with materials that are not used at home. They also use bicycles to travel and pay attention to garbage classification...

Referring to the causes of climate change, the students mentioned the consequences of car exhaust and climate change, such as drought and heavy rain. Dr. Zhou told everyone that in addition to natural factors, human factors have increased the greenhouse effect and caused the earth to heat up.

Dr. Zhou encourages students to enhance sharing, such as a book, which can be circulated by many students. Pay attention to not litter, and do a good job of sorting garbage. The CBCGDF is carrying out an initiative called “pick up plastics, reduce plastics. Activities such as not using a plastic book cover and recycling make the concept of “environmental protection, starting from the small things around us” deep into the hearts of children.

In the face of global climate change trends, scientists are trying to call for a possible reduction in temperature. Dr. Zhou explained to the children the impact of animal husbandry on climate change. In the case of cattle raising, it requires more water, and more land to deal with these cultured excreta, while also releasing more carbon dioxide, which are also likely to cause pollution.

Dr. Zhou taught children to make scientific and rational diets. Don't waste food, and don't waste meat.

In this classroom for children's climate change and environmental education, Dr. Zhou mentioned the common behaviour of trees wearing cotton in the city and the environmental costs behind it as winter approaches.

Local tree species are very adaptable, so they do not need this "extra care", and some introduced tree species, especially the southern tree species, because they do not adapt to the cold of the North, need to be artificially wrapped with thick quilts. Even for the pursuit of visual beauty, the quilts are decorated and beautified.

Dr. Zhou hoped that children could understand the use of local plants and avoid the cost, manpower and resources for quilts so that we can make our environment more effective.

Environmental education starts from children. CBCGDF hopes to pass more of these activities and let the children understand the close relationship between climate, environment and our living habits. Green Youth also opens the platform to the young people to provide more participation and display space for the future generation of environmental protection.
