Hosted by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and supported by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Youth Charity Art Exhibition with the theme of “Empowering with Love, Drawing Hope Together” was held at World Design Capital in Beijing on July 1-2, 2023.

This exhibition brought together works created by hundreds of children and teenagers aged 4-14 from 75 schools and institutions in 25 cities across the country. In the three exhibition areas, including children’s painting, digital production and refugees’ handicraft, over 600 works reflected the environmental awareness advocated by UNHCR to pay attention to green energy among children and young people.

Every work was a demonstration of children’s ability to observe, think and create. Focusing on the theme of global climate change and environment, aesthetic education instructors gave children inspiration and creative motivation.

Ms. Nancy, a guest judge of the exhibition, said that it was helpful for children to participate in this high-level and high-standard activity sponsored by CBCGDF and supported by UNHCR. Before that, many children did not know what environmental pollution or ecological destruction meant to us. By studying cases and watching science videos, aesthetic education teachers led children to truly understand the severe problems on the planet, such as biodiversity loss, climate change, public health and so on, and the important and decisive role of our actions in realizing sustainable development and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

Themed on “Empowering with Love, Drawing Hope Together”, the activity raised a series of questions for the young people: How to combine the sustainable development goals with the global plight of refugee? How to provide sustainable and clean solutions for refugees while assisting and improving their lives? How to apply green energy and the latest renewable technology to solve the practical problems of refugees? Thinking inspired these questions are being expressed by the works of art created by the children.
