On the morning of June 19th, 2023, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) visited the Representative Office of Baise Investment Promotion Bureau in Beijing, and had talks with the staff of the representative office on the construction of model city/county of ecological civilization, the declaration of model city of environmental health management, the dual goal of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”, and the legislation of cities and counties for biodiversity protection.
Before the talks, Dr. Zhou visited the office area to learn about the work and achievements of the representative office. The staff introduced the schools funded and run by good-hearted enterprises and volunteers in Baise, Guangxi Province. There are more than 11,000 students in two primary schools and two middle schools.
In view of the development of Baise, Dr. Zhou put forward several suggestions: 1) Combining ecological civilization, dual carbon goals and biodiversity protection, the city needs to choose the right direction of legislation as a meaningful highlight; 2) Taking account of the basic situation of social and economic development and ecological environmental protection in the region, the city may declare the national model city of environmental health management; 3) Since Baise has carried out the construction of district-level ecological civilization model zone, it is advisable for certain districts and counties to declare model city/county of ecological civilization.
At the meeting, the Representative Office of Baise Investment Promotion Bureau in Beijing invited Dr. Zhou Jinfeng to conduct biodiversity research in Baise and guide the construction of ecological civilization.
