As Low Carbon Workshop No.001 has established for about half a month, Low Carbon Workshop No.001 and No.003 of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), under the leadership of Professor Ma Hao of Nanjing Agricultural University, have forged ahead, and met the desertification challenge facing the world. The desertification combating is a great cause benefiting our future generations. Professor Ma Hao says that he will strive to create a model of green and low-carbon development.
Recently, a piece of good news from Professor Ma Hao’s team came out, that bamboo willows in Tuokexun, Turpan are in promising growth. The Working Group of CBCGDF Low Carbon Workshop is very happy to share the progress with readers.
Tuokexun of Turpan, Xinjiang has a typical continental warm temperate desert climate, with sufficient sunlight and abundant heat. The average annual temperature is 15.1°C, the annual average hours are 3134.9 hours, the precipitation is 5.7 mm, the evaporation is 3171.4 mm, and the frost-free period can reach 219 days. Tuokexun is known as the “wind bank”. The dominant wind direction is the west wind throughout the year, with an average annual wind speed of 8m/s, and the wind speed is relatively stable. It is extremely difficult to plant trees here.
Nanjing Lifecycle Environmental Protection Science & Technology Company Ltd. (LCW-001), and Xinjiang Tianshan Bamboo Willow Ecological Technology Development Co., Ltd (LCW-003), first grow bamboo seedlings in the seedling protective cylinders under related facility conditions, and then transplant the successful seedlings with their seedling protective cylinders to the deserts of Tuokexun county where bamboo willows are difficult to survive, after years of experiments and exploration, to improve the planting survival rate.
Based on this technology, the planting survival rate of bamboo willows in the desert areas of Tuokexun county has been significantly improved, and their growth are rapid. Earlier this year, Tianshan Bamboo Willow No.1, which was planted in Tuokexun county, is now in promising growth.

The CBCGDF Low Carbon Workshop is currently creating a “forest fiber integration” green sand industry model with related enterprises of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This model is aimed to make full use of vast desert lands, saline-alkali lands, and lands for farming to be returned to forestry in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and rely on technology to establish construction bases of large-scale ecological forests and public welfare forests. Meanwhile, the complete set service of deep processing industries needs to be built, serving the country’s Belt and Road Initiative, and helping to build a beautiful Xinjiang.
