The United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development (2022 UN Ocean Conference) will be held from 27 June to 1 July 2022, in Lisbon, Portugal.

As an accredited organization, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is applying for organizing a side event. The deadline for applications is extended to 8 May 2022.

Our topic is “How to conserve biodiversity while ensuring the development of new coastal wind energy? ——Promoting the synergies between SDGs 7, 13, 14 and 15”. We would like to invite friends and your prestigious organizations to participate in the endeavor.

The ocean, the lungs of the planet, covers 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, is home to up to 80 percent of all life in the world. It generates 50 percent of the oxygen we need, absorbs 25 percent of all carbon dioxide emissions and captures 90 percent of the additional heat generated from those emissions.

Now we are facing three global crisis—climate change, biodiversity loss and public health. We need take concrete action to make a healthier planet. We need to pay closer attention to the synergies between biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
