In December 2021, Erik Solheim donated his recent writing remuneration to the Project Empower Love, to support clean energy in developing countries and brighten the future for children. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) joined hands with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to empower Love in Pakistan and jointly launched a charity fundraising project to help developing countries explore clean energy solutions to the challenges faced by host communities and refugee families. The public benefit initiative aims to advance the seventh goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: ensuring access to affordable and reliable modern energy services for all by 2030.

Erik Solheim is a senior advisor at the World Resources Institute, co-chair of the Board and foreign director of the International Institute for Green Development under the Belt and Road initiative. He is chief advisor to the Global Alliance for Sustainable Planet. As a legend who dedicated the second half of his career to the Green Belt and Road initiative, he has long focused on sustainable development in developing countries and is committed to promoting people of all countries to jointly build a clean and beautiful world.
