CBCGDF volunteers made a special trip to the Green Club Great Bustard Preserve to deliver four National Grade II and Grade III wild birds that had been entangled in the bird-proof nets at Yingkou Airport in Liaoning Province before they died and were waiting to be rescued, including a golden-spotted plover (National Grade III), a crested wheatear (National Grade III), a kestrel (National Grade II), and a long-eared owl (National Grade II). This event has attracted the attention of people from all walks of life.

It was decided to propose a national group standard "Biodiversity Friendly Guidelines for Airports" (hereinafter referred to as "Guidelines"). The Guide will propose biodiversity-friendly guidelines from different subjects such as passengers, airport construction personnel and airport operation personnel, starting from the principle of adhering to airport bird and other creature-friendly principles. For example, the issue of over-packing of consignments by airports, etc. In particular, the issue of first aid treatment for airport birds in distress was mentioned, pointing out that when birds are found entangled in airport mist nets, it is necessary to contact professionals to rescue them, and to specify the distance of release after successful rescue. And so on and so forth to name a few aspects.

In addition, the meeting mentioned that the Wildlife Hazards Management Manual published by Airports Council International in 2005 mentioned many relevant airport bird strike prevention methods. After more than a decade of development, the applicability of these methods is questionable, and whether there are more new and more biodiversity-friendly techniques that can be applied to airport bird strike prevention are issues worth reflecting on.

The establishment and development of the Airport Biodiversity Friendly Guidelines will play a positive role in China's participation in global environmental governance and in building an ecological civilization and a community of life on earth.
