As a member of the Advisory Council for the Kering Generation Award, Zhou Jinfeng  has sent his staffs to Nanchong on Sep.18th, Sichuan Province, to examine whether a silk manufacturer of a fashion brand meet the biodiversity friendliness standards.

Zhou Jinfeng, who once proposed five standards of biodiversity, pointed out that  the biodiversity footprint of fashion products should be measured. He said that biodiversity conservation is far more than protecting wild animals. Biodiversity protection  includs ecosystem protection. The current fast fashion trend should be changed. Sustainable fashion of saving resources and protecting the environment should become the new mainstream.

Advocating replacing the existing chemical dyes with natural ingredients, Zhou Jinfeng once responded that there are two preconditions for this approach to become a new model for sustainability: first, the replacement and use of the natural raw materials will not lead to greater direct loss of biodiversity; second, the replacement will not cost indirect biodiversity prices, including water, electricity, carbon, life cycle and others. Otherwise, it may be  unreliable.
