On January 4, the 2020 Good Food Festival kicked off in Xinzhuang, Jiangsu Province. Good Food embraces the meaning of healthy food as well as the diet which brings us hope. You will taste fresh food ingredients organically planted. You will also learn how to fully use food ingredients and reduce kitchen waste.

The event lasted from10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All meals provided were vegetarian. The EAT-Lancet Healthy Reference Diet has mentioned that food is the most powerful leverage to improve human health and environmental sustainability. The host prepared a plant-based diet for participants.

What would it feel like if you live in Xinzhuang? Xinzhuang advocates environmental protection through reducing the use of plastic products, promoting garbage classification and encouraging organic plants. The strawberries cultivated in the greenhouse are juicy and delicious. Xinzhuang is setting the trend of constructing an environmental-friendly village.

In the morning, some participants of the Good Food Festival visited the environmental fair where environment-friendly items including canvas bags are bamboo baskets greatly encouraged to use. No single-use products can be found here. There were second-handed plastic and paper bags offered free of charge.

In the middle of the day, participants were invited to visit Xinzhuang accompanied by a volunteer guide, and then enjoyed the delicate prepared by cooks. In the afternoon, chefs of the Good Food Fund shared attracting stories about vegetarianism. In the evening, the welcome party "Night of Nanshan" was held in Nanshan art school, with the participation of students and their parents.

The Good Food Fund joins hands with Xinzhaung to continue the efforts on a healthy and sustainable diet in 2020.
