Recently, Mr. Yao Guoxiang, the guardian of China’s wild dendrobium candidum (Scientific name: Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo) also the Chairman of Ningbo (Zhejiang Province) Shuyun Group, visited the Chairman of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Mr. Hu Deping.

Mr. Yao detailed to Chairman Hu Deping about his work as an entrepreneur in the manufacture of electronics. Since 2012, he has discovered the wild dendrobium candidum, his efforts on conservation and cultivation on the wild dendrobium candidum, as well as the development and promotion of related products.

It is understood that Mr. Yao has been practicing entrepreneurs' social responsibilities for a long time in the past eight years, actively participating in public welfare undertakings, promoting the harmonious coexistence between man and nature, and making outstanding contributions to the construction of ecological civilization. In June 2019, CBCGDF established the “China Conservation Area for dendrobium candidum at Yuyao” (CCAfa) under the impetus of Ningbo Shunyun Group. The two sides also jointly launched the construction of “World Dendrobium Diversity Protection and Seed Bank”.

Mr. Yao reported to Chairman Man Hu Deping: “At present, the products of the wild dendrobium candidum are being applied to be protected by Chinese geographical indications. The follow-up hopes to establish and improve the complete chain from the growth of provenance to the deep processing of products. The purpose is to make the people to be able to enjoy the good imitation of wild dendrobium candidum, and it is my wish. Working together with CBCGDF to build the “World Dendrobium Diversity Protection and Seed Bank”, leaving a cultural spirit for future generations. It is my other wish to inherit the heritage of dendrobium culture. At present, we have collected all 78 Chinese dendrobium varieties. There are more than 1,500 varieties of dendrobium in the world. Collecting them is the next step."

After listening to the report, Chairman Hu Deping emphasized that it is particularly important to combine biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. Without the support of real economic development, biodiversity conservation is also a purely scientific study, but it is integrated with the economy. It will be more effective together. It is hoped that the two sides can cooperate for a long time. CBCGDF can also cooperate with scientific research institutions such as the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to provide assistance and support for the protection of wild dendrobium candidum.
