The Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has just released a statement on the postponement of COP18.

The CITES COP18 originally scheduled to take place from 23 May to 3 June in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as well as the associated 71st and 72nd meetings of the Standing Committee, are being postponed. This decision has been taken out of respect for the victims of the recent attacks and the recognition by the Standing Committee, the Secretariat and the United Department of Safety and Security of the time needed for the Government of Sri Lanka to address the current situation in the country.

As a leading responsible NGO in China, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has been prepared for the CITES COP18 actively. During the preparation, CBCGDF delegation member already applied successfully to host two side events during this event. One is themed “Infrastructure and Wildlife”, another is themed “To Create a Sustainable Future for Pangolins Globally”. CBCGDF is ready for the return of this event in the future for the meaningful biodiversity conservation and sustainable development cause.
