From 2017 is the Turning Point Year of Pangolins’ fate, to 2018 is the Counting Year of Pangolins, on the first day of the Chinese New Year in 2019, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of CBCGDF still works on the arrangement and set the expression of 2019 is the “Correctly Naming Year of Pangolins”. He pointed out six meaningful points for correctly naming pangolins, which are:

The first point for correctly naming: The pangolins will be upgraded from the national secondary protected animal to the first level. Everyone works together to make pangolins from the secondary level to the first level. We believe that it will be achieved within one year. The relevant departments have already started the upgrade process. This is one of the most fundamental achievements of pangolins protection. We strongly look forward to it and believe it will succeed.

The second point for correctly naming: Counterfeit medicine for non-Chinese pangolin scales. Read from the "Pharmacopoeia Chinensis", the description of pangolins is “This product is the scales of Manis pentadactyla Linnaeus”, that is, the scales of the medicine must be the scales of Chinese pangolins. We must resolutely stop all counterfeit medicines used non-Chinese pangolin scales.

The third point for correctly naming: Chinese pangolins have been commercially extinct. We hope that some people can come up with evidence to prove that Chinese pangolins can also be acquired and used commercially and have the value of commercial market transactions. But what we can be sure of is that the commercial extinction of pangolins is conclusive. We call for the cessation of medicine use on pangolins.

The fourth point for correctly naming: the Malayan pangolins are not a alien species in China. In order to prove whether Malayan pangolins has a traditional habitat in China, we must do a full field investigation, historical investigation and practical exploration to prove that Malayan pangolins are not alien species.

The fifth point for correctly naming: The condition that Chinese pangolins are critically endangered have realized a turning point. In order to prove that the efforts of the relevant departments and social organizations are fruitful, we hope that in 2019, the fact that pangolins are critically endangered and extinct can be reversed.

The sixth point for correctly naming: The pangolins rescue work in China is fruitful. We have worked hard to prove that pangolins rescue work in China is fruitful and pangolins’ survival in the wild is possible through scientific research. And we also take this opportunity to prove that pangolins are not likely to be alien invasive species.
