On January 4, CBCGDF's volunteer Ms. Y. Zhang returned for the back-to-office report about the International Dark-sky Association (IDA) 2017 Annual meeting. We are very appreciated for the great honor "Crawford-Hunter Award" IDA gave to Mr. Xiaohua Wang, as well as the certification awarded by IDA the Recognition of CBCGDF for Outstanding Efforts to Advocate for Light Pollution Control in China.

On July 7th, 2017, CBCGDF lost a remarkable Chinese and friend of the Earth, Mr. Xiaohua Wang, who headed the CBCGDF Dark Sky Committee. As the pioneer of China's Dark and Starry sky protection, this great man helped to establish our country's first Dark-Sky Protected Areas in Naqu and Ali area in Tibet in 2016. We were deeply saddened by the loss of the director of the CBCGDF Dark and Starry Sky Committee. His relentless efforts and consistent spirits will be forever remembered. His unfulfilled dream will be continued by us.

Dark and Starry Sky is very important for biodiversity conservation (e.g. migratory species, predator-prey pattern, circadian rhythms) and healthy ecosystems. CBCGDF is truly grateful for IDA's generous support to China's Dark and Starry Sky undertakings, we're going to continue our hardworking to protect our country's beautiful dark and starry sky!
