Zhou Jinfeng Went to Qiqihar City of Heilongjiang Province to Investigate the Harmonious Symbiosis between Powerlines and Birds

On July 26, 2023, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), and a delegation of State Grid Co., LTD., State Grid Public Welfare Foundation, and State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Company went to Qiqihar City in Heilongjiang Province to carry out research work.

The survey lasted for two days, mainly to deeply understand the nesting, distribution and living conditions of Oriental white storks around the main transmission lines in Qiqihar, to investigate the bird protection measures that have been taken in the current transmission lines, and to explore the effective path of harmonious coexistence between the powerlines and birds.

On July 26, Dr. Zhou and others went to Zhalong National Nature Reserve for research. In Zhalong Reserve, they listened to the director of the reserve introduce the status quo of the reserve, visited the crane viewing platform of Zhalong Wetland, the exhibition area of the reserve, and participated in the red-crowned crane release activities on site. On July 27th, the research team went to the Qiqihar Oriental white stork line tower nesting section, and discussed with the staff of the local State Grid company and local volunteer organizations how to effectively achieve harmonious symbiosis between the powerlines and birds.
