On March 27, 2023, Dr. Jinfeng Zhou, the Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), embarked on a field journey to Sanyang Wetland in Wenzhou. During this field research, Dr. Zhou put forth several insightful recommendations on how to enhance the protection of this precious wetland.

Sanyang Wetland in Wenzhou boasts an intricate network of rivers and picturesque islets, making it the most pristine waterway wetland within the city. Located adjacent to Wenzhou's downtown area and harmoniously juxtaposed with the "lungs of the city," Da Luo Shan in the southeast, this wetland exudes an aura of tranquility and scenic beauty. During the Ming Dynasty, the then esteemed minister Zhang Cong famously left behind the poetic verse, "Boating at sunset, following the tangerine groves, a gentle rosy hue marks the path to a utopia," in admiration of this idyllic sanctuary.

In recent years, Wenzhou has placed immense importance on ecological civilization and environmental preservation, steadfastly treading the path of green, low-carbon development. As it endeavors to become a national ecological garden city and an international wetland city, the city has exemplified its commitment to nurturing a harmonious coexistence between urban development and nature.

Jinfeng Zhou's suggestions include, but are not limited to, protecting wilderness areas within cities, preserving ecological connectivity, providing guidance and improvements in wetland conservation, establishing biosecurity boundaries, fostering reverence for nature, and restoring the pristine environment to attract the return of deer and geese (historically renowned in Wenzhou, but now facing biodiversity loss). He further recommends building upon the foundation of the "World Young Scientist Summit" and launching a high-end brand called the "San Yang Forum." This forum would serve as the premier conference for global marine and wetland governance and scientific exchange, radiating influence throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
