On February 17, the voluntary service project of “Safeguarding the Power Supply while Protecting Birds” jointly initiated by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and State Grid Public Welfare Foundation, and implemented by State Grid Gaoyou Power Supply Company, was honored as one of the 30 outstanding voluntary service projects in Jiangsu Province. It is, indeed, a perfect example of practicing the idea of “Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON)” advanced by CBCGDF, which aims to balance sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation.
The foremost goal of the project is to protect Oriental White Storks, a national key protected animal inhabiting in Gaoyou City, Jiangsu, while ensuring the safe operation of transmission lines. It is a public welfare project that has been implemented in many provinces and cities in China.
