The team of “Clean Internet for Conophytum” noticed that Chinese Embassy and Consulates in South Africa remind Chinese citizens not to pick or bring succulents out of the country without authorization or permission in February.

South Africa attaches great importance to the protection of the environment, nature and animal rights, and it is forbidden to carry, buy or sell rare wild animals and plants and their products (such as ivory and rhinoceros horn) protected by law. People should not feed, tease or drive away wild animals, and not abuse, slaughter or beat animals and livestock; the regulations on buying and selling lobster, abalone and other seafood should be strictly abide by; do not pick or carry local succulents out of the country without authorization.

In order to help implement the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), assist law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal wildlife trade brought by online sales, and protect biodiversity, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) launched the campaign of “Clean Internet for Conophytum” on March 9, 2023, calling for attention to the illegal trade of Conophytum plants and building a shared future for all life on earth.
