Food is the paramount necessity of the people. Soil is the foundation of food. Soils are critical to food security and people's livelihoods. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), soil holds a quarter of the world's biodiversity.

Recently, the International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) learned from The Soil Solution (Gambia) organization (SSGM) its annual report, the 2021 ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY of the 2021 ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT

During the implementation of the 2021 activities, THE SOIL SOLUTION has engaged partners and stakeholders to implement programs earmarked for implementation for the year. The under cited activities were implemented in line with goals and objectives of The Soil Solution, the national goals and more generally the global goals.

SSGM continues to strengthen and implement projects and programs related to sustainable land and water use, food systems value chain and sound environment management through partnership and collaboration. The provision of technical support to the Indigenous People Communities, Farmers/Farmer Networks, Women and Youth in the Gambia and also on-going provision of mentoring, coaching and assisting the Selected Lead Farmers (LFs) to apply the principles, methods and modules they are trained through various projects. SSGM has championed the launched of the Soil Doctors Programme (SDP) in the Gambia in West Coast Region, North Bank Region, Lower River Region, Central River Region (North and South) and expecting to expand the programme throughout the Gambia and other countries in the region.
