Lop Nur, Chinese (Pinyin) Luobupo or (Wade-Giles romanization) Lo-pu P’o, also called Lop Nor, former saline lake in northwestern China that is now a salt-encrusted lake bed. Over the past years, the region experienced increased moisture, and under the background of global biodiversity crisis and climate change, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) started a 10-year-long scientific research project in Lop Nor and its surrounding areas since 2020. It's the 3rd consecutive year for the CBCGDF to carry out the project in 2022.

We got up very early in the morning and the only open breakfast shop near the hotel was not open yet. Because we were too early, the driver also arrived about half an hour late. After loading the car and returning to the breakfast shop, the hot noodles were ready. In order to hurry up, everyone ate the noodles as quickly as possible and gets on the bus. This day was a long way (970 kilometers), and the work tasks along the way were still very heavy, so I hoped to start early.

When I rented a car before, I mentioned that there will be very difficult mountain and salt desert roads on the wild route, requiring a large-displacement four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle. As a result, the car the car rental company actually gave us was a low-displacement 2-wheel drive vehicle. In order to ensure that the work process will not be affected by the problem of vehicle configuration on the back road, the team members proposed to let the car rental company change all the cars after discussion. Returning the car, redeploying the car, and maintaining it before departure, the team members waited for more than 2 hours in anxiety, and finally set off. It was also the first time I got on the TANK 300, a domestic off-road vehicle that is said to have strong field performance.
