A Great Success: Press Conference of CBCGDF’s Preliminary Survey Report on Current Status of Tigers in China
2022/8/5 17:08:00 本站

July 29, 2022 is World Tiger Day. The establishment of World Tiger Day was proposed at the Asia Ministerial Conference on Tiger Conservation held in Thailand in January 2010. In November 2010, in St. Petersburg, Russia, the heads of government and representatives from 13 countries in the global wild tiger range jointly issued the “Declaration of Head of Government on Tiger Conservation” and designated July 29 as "World Tiger Day".

In order to promote the protection and conservation of tigers, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held a press conference on July 29 and released the "Preliminary Survey Report on the Status of Tigers in China", announcing that there are currently at least 7,116 tigers in China.

CBCGDF broadcast the conference live, and a total of 2,664 people watched the press conference online, hoping to jointly promote the protection of tigers.

On July 21, 2022, the IUCN updated the Red List, in which the reassessed number of tigers shows that there are currently 3,726-5,578 tigers living in the wild around the world. With a 40% increase since the last tiger assessment in 2015, the global tiger population appears to be stably increasing. Restoration of the scale of wild tigers in China is of great significance for completely rewriting the status of tiger conservation in the world, leading the construction of world ecological civilization, and promoting the building of a community of life on earth.
