On July 5, 2022, two CCAfa of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) in Tangshan, Hebei Province released five green sea turtles that had been rescued successfully after actively communicating with local government departments. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-Genera of CBCGDF said, “This is the fastest action and the best response from Chinese people after the closing of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. This is a specific case of studying Adhering to the Harmonious Coexistence of Man and Nature.”
Among them, the first green turtle, we named it "Dajing", why? For loving life. The name expresses gratitude to Kaiping Branch of Tangshan Public Security Bureau.
When faced with confiscated wild animals, the public security bureaus in many places will say: This is a criminal case, and the first thing that comes to mind is to keep the evidence.
However, in 2021, when the Kaiping Branch of Tangshan Public Security Bureau seized 6 endangered species and national first-class protected green sea turtles during law enforcement, they did not want to keep the evidence immediately, regardless of the welfare and life of the animals, but insisted on putting life first. One was sent to Tangshan Wildlife Rescue Station and other places, contacted professionals, and actively rescued.
A series of "life first" actions, tossing, and efforts made 5 green turtles survive. This kind of "seeing wild animals as life, not just evidence" is very precious. According to our past experience - we have applied for the rescue and release of wild life in the evidence-making stage many times, but in most cases, it will be rejected, so we would like to give special praise to the Kaiping Branch of Tangshan Public Security Bureau, their approach is very meaningful.
They put the lives of these surviving green sea turtles first, and took timely and correct actions—transferring the turtles to the Tangshan Wildlife Rescue Station and the CBCGDF CCAfa for active rescue. This approach of caring for life above all else is the work quality of the ecological civilization of "harmonious coexistence between man and nature".
