Dugong, also known as manatee, is a national first-class protected animal in my country. It used to be mainly lived and distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and the southern coast of Taiwan in southern China. Now, there is no trace. The reintroduction of the species is a significant event. We have accumulated experience (the re-introduction of Milu Deer), and the whole thing is a scientific project, and it is worth doing. To this end, we set up the CBCGDF Dugong research group. Specifically, there are several tasks:

The first is to study the exact reasons for the disappearance of Dugong in our country. The second is to study its life - the current state of existence of the species, and the progress of global assessment. The third is to study the population migration: can it be introduced? If introduced, what species would be suitable? The fourth is to study the preliminary plan for species introduction if feasible; the fifth is to study how to protect the species after it is introduced into China. The sixth is to study its reproduction and long-term ecological reconstruction. The whole project is about the restoration of the entire ecosystem on which the species depends.
