Beijing's Covid-19 Prevention and Control is still facing many difficulties. Despite of this, in order not to delay process of the scientific investigation plan, the preparatory meeting of 2022 biodiversity scientific research in Lop Nor and its surrounding areas was held online by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) on May 22.

The Biodiversity Scientific Research Plan in Lop Nor and its surrounding areas was proposed and launched by CBCGDF in July 2020. Within ten years (2020-2030) this large-scale scientific research project plans to continuously carry out comprehensive scientific expeditions involving animals and plants, soil, surface and groundwater in Lop Nor and surrounding areas in order to analyze and predict the possibility of ecological restoration represented by "sea of death" and to provide scientific support for local ecological environmental protection and governance engineering planning, as well as regional sustainable development.
