Recently, the 2022 working meeting of the South-South University Science Program for China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) decided to officially launch the South-South University Science Program. In August this year, an international biodiversity conservation working group sent by CBCGDF will go to Latin America to make on-the-spot investigations and visiting researches.

A few years ago, a lot of work has been done by CBCGDF to reduce the rate of global biodiversity decline and participate in global ecological governance, to play an active role in jointly curbing or slowing down global warming. In 2017, the orangutan faced in eastern Kalimantan, Indonesia a crisis of habitat loss due to deforestation caused by the expansion of local oil palm cultivation, mining and extensive logging. At that time, CBCGDF supported and participated in the operation to build a rescue center for orangutans, and rescued wild animals displaced by deforestation, and helped orangutans return to their homes. In 2018, in the Opejeta Reserve in eastern and northern Kenya, under the severe situation of local poaching, CBCGDF cooperated with the reserve to improve and donate animal-proof lights, beehives, and monitors. In 2019, CBCGDF also sent a small working group to Nigeria to investigate the smuggling of pangolins in Africa, to upgrade the protection level of pangolins in the list of key protected wildlife animals.
