Marketing under the disguise of animal protection should be strictly forbidden. From the picture shown below, a tiger lives in a cramped room made of concretes while guests could sleep closely on the other side of the divider. Without any greeneries or natural settings, this tiger will definitely lead a low-quality life. Furthermore, due to unhealthy treatment, this tiger looks pretty fat.
Although guests spend money enjoying a unique sleeping experience with a tiger, he/she can definitely feel anxious since he/she could sense threat and preys nearby. This irregular stimulation could easily disturb the tiger’s daily behavior, and most importantly, its basic health.
To put it in a nutshell, this marketing strategy is absolutely a misconduct of animal protection& welfare. Since the animal live closely to human will always keep high alert, the immune system will be vulnerable due to a nervous mind. In addition, according to Design Standards of Zoo published by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, venues for animals must be capacious enough so that the animal could jump, run, climb, fly, pull, flip, and strike. However, obviously, the facility showed in the photo above failed in meeting these requirements.
In the Year of Tiger, 2022 and we really hope that marketing against animal welfare could be strictly banned and that scientific management and nature-friendly demonstration of wildlife could be given more emphasis.
