China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is carrying on Regional Comprehensive Assessment of Biodiversity (RCAB) research. One of the efforts is to promote Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON).

The current Protected Areas mechanism is not enough to reserve the rapid loss of biodiversity globally. A very important approach, according to Dr. Zhou Jinfeng who directs the leading conservation association, is the "BCON" approach - to incorporate biodiversity conservation into people's daily lives. That's why CBCGDF has recently carried out China's first RCAB biodiversity assessment in a neighborhood in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

On our first day of Cangqian biodiversity survey, nearly 60 plant species have been observed, among which there are less than 10 native plant species. Most are cultivated plants, garden plants, and exotic plants. The arbor found in this area mainly includes hackberry, camphor tree, mulberry, and Paper Mulberry.
