UNFCCC COP26 will be held in November, 2021, starting a global trend of environment protection and coping climate change. In traditional Chinese culture, people and nature should always live in a harmonious way. This belief will greatly contribute to global ecological civilization building and community of all life on earth.

China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation has been long committing on protecting environment and supporting sustainable development. By cooperating with UNDP, CBCGDF has stressed the importance of the combination of tradition and  practice of protecting environment. Join our initiative of Facing Climate Change, Protecting Earth, Sustainable Development as individuals and groups. Diving into global environment governance to tell Chinese stories of religion, religion groups and individuals.

Here are some examples that CBCGDF has done in combining tradition and belief.

Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood(BCON) proposed by CBCGDF means that when we could not protect nature as a whole, we need to minimize interruption to both nature and wildlife. This concept is well-received by minority groups in China who worships nature.

In Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, China, there is a Long mountain. Below 900 meters above sea level, in the dam area locates many Long forestes.Long means forests in local people's language. With the development of villages, fields, rubber plantations, tea plantations and fruit orchards, Long forests are more sparsely than before.

In 2016, CBCGDF has established the Long Mountain Conservation in Xishuangbanna to promote the cultural traditions of local people who have believed in nature for generations and love, worship and protect the mountain. Organizing residents to establish forest protection teams to manage forest destroying, firewood collection and hunting activities, and support local people's ecological environmental protection activities, which have effectively restored the broken habitat.

Nearly 50% of Western Black Crested Gibbon population lives in Wuliang Mountain Nature Reserve in Jingdong county, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province. The indigenous people of Wuliang Mountain are financially-challenged for a long time. The state and province lack clear and stable funding channels to support local economic development. Most local young people choose to go out for jobs in order to improve the economic situation at home.

In 2020, CBCGDF has established the Western Black Crested Gibbon Nature Reserve in Wuliang Mountain. Intending to help the indigenous people protecting nature by develop green agriculture and traditional culture. Director of the Nature Reserve and singer Aduo has started her personal concert and campaign to broadcast the efforts being made in protecting the Western Black Crested Gibbon. More people around the world have better knowledge of the Nature Reserve. In the future, more training courses would be open to those forests rangers. Promoting planting tea and Dendrocalamus giganteus Munro.Starting a virtuous cycle of sustainable development.
