Letter on the proposal for the immediate release of the wild Siberian tiger "Wandashan No. 1"

To Guan Zhi'ou, Director General of National Forestry and Grassland Administration,

It is against the basic principles of wildlife protection that Wandashan No. 1 was caught by accident in a village and placed under quarantine for 45 days to test for highly pathogenic avian influenza, rabies, cat fever and parasitic diseases.

The Wandashan No. 1 has "basically resumed normal activities" since Thursday, according to the official announcement. Consequently, the 45-day quarantine for wild animals is needless and contradicts official "wild release" commitments.

The wild is the safest habitat for wild animals to survive. "Wandashan No. 1" is a wild animal that can be released if the conditions are met. The chances of survival in the wild decrease with each additional day of feeding. I'm writing to suggest that it be released as soon as possible to prevent a lengthy wait that would make it release more difficult.
