On October 25, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) research department staff and the "Let the Migratory Birds Fly" team, as well as experts in the field of biodiversity, went to Beijing’s Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park to conduct the fourth field investigation.

 

The Dapaozi area of Nanyuan in Fengtai District of Beijing is a necessary resting place for migratory birds migrating southward and overwintering in September and October. During the migratory bird migration period, the volunteers made preliminary observations and statistics on the population of wild birds in this area, there are nearly 50 species!

 

During the investigation and patrol, the CBCGDF staff members and volunteers found many traces of poaching, and then actively tracked these illegal poaching. At the same time, they cooperated with law enforcement department to arrest a number of poachers and rescued and released a number of migratory birds. Finally, after statistics, a total of 8 bird nets of different specifications and several bird trap players were seized, involving first, second and key national protected birds. Among them, there are more than 50 living and dead bodies such as tomtit, Parus ater, Common Rosefinch, siskin, Woodpecker Picus canus, etc. The relevant persons involved have been filed for investigation. CBCGDF will continue to monitor the progress of the case.
