At the beginning of 2020, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) announced to hire Dr. Sara Platto, an internationally renowned expert in animal behavior, as the Secretary-General of CBCGDF’s Biology and Science Ethics (BASE) Working Committee.

As a foreign expert, Dr. Sara Platto spares no effort to promote the cause of animal protection and animal welfare in China's life for many years, guides ordinary people to properly conserve animals and prevent accidents, and have also given free rabies vaccine to dogs or cats in economically difficult families. Dr. Sara Platto’s main research direction is animal behavior and animal welfare. Before she came to China, she had worked in Spain, the United States, and Canada in wildlife behavior research and animal rescue. Now, she has worked and lived in China for more than ten years.

Two years ago, CBCGDF established the Biology and Science Ethics (BASE) Working Committee, which aims to actively voice hot issues and fields such as gene editing, farm animal welfare, animal ethics, artificial intelligence and robot ethics. It is hoped to gather more authoritative domestic academicians and international experts through the BASE platform to jointly express opinions and discuss; at the same time, absorbing the public opinions, feedback the relevant information to relevant departments such as China Association for Science and Technology in time, and make a voice for Chinese social organizations in the international community; with the establishment of the committee, CBCGDF has been continuously providing services for scientists, government agencies and society.

(Xun Kuang, 475 BC).” In 2020, the super year of Biodiversity, in the context of the CBD COP15 conference to be held in Kunming, Yunnan, CBCGDF will work with Dr. Sara Platto, step by step, to accumulate and achieve more fruitful results in animal welfare, animal ethics, and animal protection.
