Biodiversity is an important part of maintaining ecological balance and promoting the harmonious development of human and nature. The biodiversity conservation is of great significance to the survival and future development of human society.

On July 26, 2023, the fourth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th People's Congress of Shandong Province passed the "Regulations on Biodiversity Conservation in Shandong Province " which will come into force on January 1st, 2024.

Earlier, the Legislative Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People's Congress has issued the "Regulations on Biodiversity Conservation in Shandong Province (draft)" and solicited public opinions. The Legal Working Committee of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attached great importance to this and organized research and discussion, before putting forward a number of proposals for revision.

In the officially published regulations, the suggestions submitted by CBCGDF such as the principle of benefit-sharing, creating a good atmosphere for the biodiversity conservation, and vegetation restoration, etc. were include in articles 3, 7, 26 and others.
