The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will hold a seminar on June 2nd titled “Advancing Comprehensive Smoke-Free Legislation to Support the Achievement of ‘Dual Carbon’ Goals.”

Tobacco is harmful to health and pollutes the environment. Currently, China is in a crucial period for achieving its “dual carbon” goals and promoting the construction of an ecological civilization. All industries are actively undergoing sustainable development transformations and embracing green development, and the tobacco industry is no exception. As a signatory to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, China also bears the responsibility of fulfilling its obligations in tobacco control.

In order to systematically promote collaborative tobacco control efforts for environmental protection, create a favorable living and ecological environment, and align with the global theme of “Grow food, not tobacco” for World No Tobacco Day in 2023, as well as the national theme for China’s World No Tobacco Day, “Smoke-free for healthy growth,” and the theme for World Environment Day on June 5th, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” the Smoke-Free Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will hold a seminar titled “Advancing Comprehensive Smoke-Free Legislation to Support the Achievement of ‘Dual Carbon’ Goals” on June 2nd, 2023, at 9:00 AM in Room B306 of the China Science and Technology Hall.

This conference will invite experts from the fields of environmental protection, disease control, law, finance, taxation, and education. The purpose of the meeting is to comprehensively and thoroughly discuss the current situation and issues related to tobacco control in China and propose solutions and recommendations. The aim is to provide intellectual support to the Chinese government in making decisions regarding tobacco control.
