Congratulations to Wang Zhijia on Publication of “The UN Global Environment Governance and My Footprints”: A Notable Work on Environmental Diplomacy

Recently, Ms. Linda Wong, the Deputy Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), received a copy of Mr. Wang Zhijia’s book “The UN Global Environment Governance and My Footprints”. After reading this book, Linda expressed that she gained a lot from it. She would like to express her gratitude for the insights gained and would recommend this book to more readers who’s seeking valuable books in the area of global environmental governance.

The book is comprised of five chapters and has four appendices. It is published by Zhejiang University Press in March 2023 and recommended as an extraordinary work on environmental diplomacy.

 

The author of this book is Mr. Wang Zhijia, who holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Nankai University and a master’s degree in International Environmental Law from Law School of Wuhan University. He has held various positions such as Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Deputy Director of the Regional Cooperation Division of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Special Advisor to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and UN/USG, etc.

As Mr. Xie Zhenhua, China’s Special Envoy for Climate Change Affairs, said in his recommendation for the book, “Mr. Wang Zhijia is one of the pioneers in the field of China’s environmental diplomacy, and has participated in and witnessed many important environmental diplomatic activities in early stage in our country, and has made contributions to them.”

 

Based on his many years of experience in global environmental governance process and working in the United Nations Environment Programme, Mr. Wang Zhijia elaborates the role of the United Nations and China’s outstanding contributions to global environmental governance, starting from addressing the environmental challenges. He also describes the operation mechanisms, multi-cultural working environment, core values, and competencies of the UN. This book will help readers broaden their professional perspectives and provide useful insights for the development of the environmental governance agenda.
