Taking the Way of Biodiversity to Support the Life on Earth -- Notes on Biological Control of Peach Aphids | BCON-081

Peach Aphids (Myzus persicae) are widely distributed in the world and are considered to be one of the most significant pests of peach trees. They cluster on the back of young leaves of new shoots. The injured leaves shrink and excrete mucus, polluting the shoots. In serious cases, soot disease occurs on the leaf surface inhibiting the growth of new shoots. They are considered pests in many parts of North America, mainly because they can spread plant viruses. How do we use natural forces and checks&balances mechanism of natural enemies to fight them? Here is the experience sharing of the director of the civilization Site of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF):

As Early as May 2nd, I found peach aphids on the back of about one or two leaves, so I put some ladybug eggs nearby. After a couple of days, I found the ladybug eggs had hatched and ladybug larva had climbed to the surrounding areas one after another.

Today, on May 8, when I came back, I found that there were another seven or eight leaves with aphids on the back.

At first I was worried because I didn't see any ladybugs or its larva. But later, after taking a close look, I found there were some yellow ladybug eggs on the back of one of the leaves. These eggs were scattered by ladybugs right on the leaves with aphids on the back.

I think when the ladybugs hatch out, they can directly feed themselves with surrounding aphids. Nature is really amazing!

So I decided to do nothing with these leaves and continue to observe what would happen in the following days.
