The oceans is the cradle of life and the treasure house of resources. It gives birth to life, connects the world and promotes development. It is an important field in the governance of global biodiversity and science and technology. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will organize a delegation to attend the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference.
Convened under the auspices of the United Nations and co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the “2022 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development” (or the 2022 UN Ocean Conference) will be held from 27 June – 1st July 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. The overarching theme of the 2022 UN Ocean Conference is “Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions”.
As an accredited organization, CBCGDF was invited to apply for organizing a side event. Recently, CBCGDF and ACTAsia jointly applied for a side event on “Marine biodiversity conservation and sustainable development -- promoting synergies between SDGS 4,7,13,14 and 15”. On May 7th, CBCGDF successfully submitted the application.
The theme of this side event focuses on Marine biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, biofriendly clean energy and Ocean education from the global perspective to local actions. The speakers will discuss the conservation of marine animals from cross countries and disciplines.
The side event will demonstrate the importance of partnership to overcome the barriers and highlight the opportunities from different social and political background and experience.
