BBNJ Informal Informals on Marine Genetic Resources, Including Questions on the Sharing of Benefits

Fourth Session of the Intergovernmental Conference on an International Legally Binding Instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ IGC4) is held from 7-18 March, 2022.

To actively participate in global ocean governance is the mission and responsibility of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), as the national first-class society of biodiversity, to “build a world-class society”. Starting in 2018, the United Nations began intergovernmental negotiations on a legal binding instrument on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national. After two-year suspension due to COVID-19, the United Nations start the fourth session in March 2022. CBCGDF has been paying close attention to BBNJ since 2017 and has organized a delegation to participate in BBNJ IGC4.
On March 10, representatives worldwide exchanged their thoughts on marine genetic resources, including questions on the sharing of benefits on BBNJ IGC4 Informal Informals.
