It’s Recommended Online Platforms Implement Real-name Systems to Prevent Wildlife Poaching | 2021 E-commerce National Standard Development Project Solicitation Proposal

Recently, in response to the public solicitation of the first batch of e-commerce national standards development project proposals issued by the National E-commerce Quality Management Standardization Technical Committee of China in 2021, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) volunteers suggested: It is hoped that in the formulation of future standards, store merchants, including e-commerce and live broadcast platforms, will be promoted to implement real-name systems to prevent wildlife poaching.

In the suggestions to the CBCGDF, the volunteer reflected: It is common for e-commerce platforms to sell various wild animals and plants and hunting tools. There are also a large number of wild animals caught and traded in various groups of social media platforms. In addition, live broadcast platforms also sell and trade wild animals and plants. The volunteer hopes to use the following recommendations to effectively regulate the supervision of these online platforms.

1. All online platforms involved in the trading of wildlife (including products) are compulsory to implement the real-name system for E-commerce and social media platforms to prevent the situation where wildlife trading is difficult to solve through these online channels.

2. Penalties should be increased for platforms that violate regulations, because currently these platforms generally have insufficient internal supervision and require external supervision and heavy penalties to make them pay attention.

CBCGDF has long been concerned about the illegal sale of nationally protected animals and plants, the sale of electronic hunting and other tools that destroy the ecology, the sale of daily necessities with excessive chemicals, and the excessive packaging and recycling in the e-commerce field. Currently, as a member of the National E-commerce Quality Management Standardization Technical Committee, it is also actively participating in the formulation of the first batch of e-commerce national standards in 2021.

CBCGDF also welcomes all CBCGDF's secondary units, related experts and frontline volunteers who are concerned about the sustainable development of e-commerce to actively participate and provide their suggestions and ideas.
