Recently, a volunteer notes a video of red-crowned cranes, the national first-class protected animal, in a farm in Xuzhou City, and then reports to the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF). The staff of CBCGDF confirm with the volunteer and learn that the farm belongs to a local company whose main business is relevant to black swan, alpaca, black-necked swan, whooper swan, ruddy shelduck, zebra, ostrich, mute swan, little egret, peacock, porcupine, crowned crane, red-crowned crane, swan goose, and graylag.

In order to strictly combat illegal wildlife trade, the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress adopted the Decision of Banning Illegal Wildlife Trade, Abolishing the Practice of Eating Wildlife, and Securing Public Health Security, on February 24.

For securing public interest, the Research Department of CBCGDF wrote to the Jiangsu Provincial Forestry and Grassland Department to publicize the following information on March 24.

1. The domestication and breeding license of the national first-class protected wild animal issued to the company.

2. All application material and documents provided by the company to obtain the domestication and breeding license.

3. Credentials of the provincial forestry authority on approving the domestication and breeding license of national first-class protected wildlife to the company.

4. Legal basis of the provincial forestry authority on approving the domestication and breeding license of national first-class protected wildlife to the company.

The Research Department of CBCGDF applies to the provincial department for disclosing the above information. At the same time, the Research Department advises the authority to supervise and inspect the domestication and breeding conducted by the company.
