Xiao Qing, deputy secretary-general of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), attended the National Green Packaging Conference of Modern Logistics held in Shanghai on June 27 to 28, 2019, and made a presentation on the current situation, existing problems, and development of plastic packaging. In 2019, the National Green Packaging Conference of Modern Logistics was guided by the China General Chamber of Commerce, sponsored by the Logistics Branch of China General Chamber of Commerce.
At the conference, Deputy Secretary-General Xiao Qing raised serious environmental pollution problems in packaging industry at this stage on the "Good Food" initiative and the "Chopsticks Walk" public welfare initiative which issued by CBCGDF. He said that due to the different quality of takeaway packaging, and generally mixed with domestic waste, the profits of recycling are low, so now the way of dealing with them is landfill and incineration. However, the landfill will occupy a large number of land resources, affecting the soil and groundwater environment; incineration will produce toxic and harmful gases, which will have a negative impact on the atmospheric environment. This impact will become more and more serious with the development of the takeaway industry. Therefore, CBCGDF has promoted environmental organizations to successfully prosecute the three major takeaway enterprises and let them increase the "0" option of tableware. Obviously, we have succeeded. Xiao Qing said that in the future, the development of takeaway packaging will gradually replace the non-degradable materials with new, recyclable and degradable lunch boxes, and solve the pollution problem of takeaway packaging from the aspects of reduction, reuse, and recycling, so as to improve the market utilization rate.
In addition to the CBCGDF as a public welfare organization attending the conference, the other main participants mainly come from the commercial and trade fields of Cainiao, Mei Tuan, benlai, Exfresh, etc. Jiang Ming, President of, Fu Longcheng, Vice President of China General Chamber of Commerce, former Vice-president ofChina General Chamber of Commerce, other leaders and experts attended the conference.
On the topic of "Takeaway Packaging, Fresh Food and Green Packaging of Cold Chain Logistics", representatives of Guangzhou Shitouzao Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiuye Supply Chain Packaging Laboratory, Benlai Logistics Center and Shanghai Exfresh Logistics Technology Co., Ltd. made the report about their works at this stage. CBCGDF notes that the application of stone instead of plastic in fresh cold chain packaging logistics is particularly innovative, and the manufacturing process is also recyclable, which is worthy of improvement and promotion in the future.
This dialogue is wonderful. The in-depth exchanges and positive interaction on the stage make the audience have a deeper understanding of takeaway packaging and cold chain logistics. CBCGDF will work together to change the "bad" surroundings of takeaway packaging garbage and contribute to the ecological civilization.
