“I’m a Little Biologist” - #Connect2Earth | The #2019EarthHour Special Event Organized by CBCGDF

On March 30, 2019, organized by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), undertaken by Beijing Linze Zhida Education Technology Co., Ltd, co-organized by Beijing Huaxiang Zhida Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd, the “I am a Little Biologist” theme nature education public welfare special event on the 2019 “Earth Hour” was successfully held in Nanhaizi Park in Daxing District of Beijing.

 

The Fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nation's Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15), which will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China in 2020. As the CBD COP15 approaches, biodiversity conservation has become a global issue. The theme of the Earth Hour in 2019 is "Connect to Earth." As the official promotion partner of “Earth Hour” China, CBCGDF launched a series special events: Connect to Earth – focusing on biodiversity and the nighttime ecological environment, aiming to promote “Connect to Earth” outside the “one hour of light off”. As part of the CBCGDF "Earth Hour" special events, the "I am a Little Biologist" event, for carrying out educational activities for children, to let the kids touch the nature with zero distance, to let them understand nature and recognize the importance of biodiversity conservation. To nurture them of establishing a sustainable and environmentally friendly concept of harmony with nature.

 

The event attracted the strong interest and participation of children and their parents. More than 60 people participated in the event. It allows parents to take their kids into nature and pay attention to biodiversity conservation, so that they can understand nature better, love nature more, and feel the infinite magic and colorful charm of nature.

 

During the event, the head from relevant department of CBCGDF and the head of Beijing Linze Zhida Education Technology Co., Ltd delivered speeches respectively, inspiring children to love nature and pay attention to biodiversity and called on adults and children to start from themselves and practice a green lifestyle for environmental protection, to contribute their own strength to the earth's environment. The children responded with a loud voice and were full of joyful expectations for the event.

 

The formal event that day was divided into three parts - "I am a little botanist", "I am a little zoologist" and "I am a little creative inventor". First, the teacher explained the knowledge about ecological environment protection, animals and plants, and let the children identify the plants on the cards. Afterwards, the children performed a small game that imitated various animals and learned the names of many small animals while moving their bodies. Finally, the kids got colorful leaflets focusing on “biodiversity” and were assigned their homework: painting kites with the theme “I am a little biologist” and their works were collected for evaluation. Everyone was very excited in the activities. They learned a lot of new knowledge while they were playing in nature and getting close to nature. They were full of happiness and gained a lot.

 

At the end of the event, the organizers gave affirmation and encouragement to the active participation of the kids and called on them to drive their parents and grandparents to participate in the "Earth Hour" light-off event at 8:30 pm and re-emphasize the importance of biodiversity conservation and the environmental protection, hope the kids can have a colorful world and a rich and diverse future and earth home.
