CCTV News once reported: "From March 19 to 26, 2022, in Shiqu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, tens of thousands of cadres and masses started the “Spring Pika Battle”. It can eliminate 80,000 plateau pikas." In response to this report, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) issued an application for information disclosure to relevant government departments on March 31.

Up to now, CBCGDF has not received any substantive information on the "Spring Pika Battle", but this activity organized by relevant local departments reflects a problem, that is, how should we deal with "biological disaster"?

In nature, human beings and various animals & plants are interdependent with each other, but once the balance is lost, biological disasters will follow. The countermeasures for biological disaster prevention should fully consider the integrity of the ecosystem, and give full play to the role of natural control factors in suppressing and reducing disasters from the perspective of protecting biodiversity. Therefore, we need to clarify that the harmonious coexistence between human and nature is the necessary guarantee for maintaining biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.
